…on my teaching Usui Reiki Ryoho

What I bring as a Teacher

I have been practicing Usui Reiki Ryoho since 1998, received my Master/Teacher certification in  October 2001 and have teaching Usui Reiki Ryoho since then. I am also a Registered Massage Therapist (since March 1996) and have studied other ‘energy healing’ techniques such as PhysioEmotional Release, Quantum Touch, Matrix Energetics, Polarity Therapy, and life experiences (always the toughest, and best teacher).

The ‘style’ of Reiki that I learned, practiced and taught is most appropriately called “Usui/Tibetan Reiki”, as practiced and taught by William Lee Rand, Diane McCumber, Arthur Robertson, et al.   (www.reiki.org)

I have since modified both the information and style of teaching to be more in line with the style (I believe) in which Usui Sensei taught. Continued research by Frank Petter, Hiroshi Doi, Frans and Bronwen Stiene, Walter Lubeck, Dave King and others has brought forth greater understanding (contextually) of the life experiences, time and place of Mikao Usui’s development of what he eventually named “Usui Reiki Ryoho” (Usui Method of Sacred (or Spiritual) Healing).
Current members of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Society of the Usui Method of Spiritual Healing) claim that this society was created by Mikao Usui in 1922, and it continues to exist in Japan only, and its current (and 7th) president is Kondo Masaki.

I teach Reiki differently that William Lee Rand (and others), in that all levels (except Master Teacher) are 2 day workshops (14 hours). The reason being that in my experience there is too much material to cover to do it in less time and still have time for the practical ‘hands on’ part. To that end, I limit my class size to a maximum of 6 students.

I also have prerequisites for all levels (except level 1) so that the students have the opportunity to gather confidence, experience and wisdom at each level before progressing to the next. As for Master Teacher training, I teach that as a  12 month (60 hours of class time) mentorship program, and I can elaborate further on that at your request.

As for upcoming course dates and fees, please go to our website at http://co-creativehealing.ca/workshops-and-seminars/reiki-certification-courses-schedule/ for that information.

I also have a public blog at www.edwardhowell.net where I post articles, ponderings and musings.

Usui Reiki Ryoho Support

For my students, I have a private FaceBook  Group page and a private Reiki blog. This is part of my support to those who have offered me the honour of being their teacher. We also host a monthly Sharing Time for my students where we gather for group sharing of experiences, questions and practice.

 Four Tenents

The workshops and courses that I facilitate hold four central tenents, that they are Informative, Insightful, Experiential and Transformative.
